Kian and Ariel Learn to Twiddle Their Thumbs

"Hey!"  Kian, hero of PAPER MOON, points at Kimber An.  "What's she doing?  She just got started on our story!"  He has his arm around Ariel, the heroine.

"But..." says Ariel, lower lip hanging "...what about us?"

"Take a number and step aside.  She's only one person and she's got four real babies in real life to take care of, besides us imaginary ones."  Angelica waves them off.  "Don't worry.  You'll get used to stopping and starting.  Go play the pinball machine or something.  A final check before hitting send doesn't usually take her long, unless she trowels up a rotton potato.  Just be thankful she hasn't bumped you off for a new story."

Ariel looks up at Kian.  "Do you have any idea what she just said?"

Kian shakes his head.  "Only the part about the pinball machine.  C'mon."

"Oh!"  Kimber An looks up and thrusts finger in the air.  "I want to write a Middle Grade novel about an underwater adventure on an alien planet!"

Ariel tries not to groan.
