'Ariana' or 'Ariel?'

I'm trying to decide the Heroine's name for 'Paper Moon.'  Since it was inspired by the Pygmalion myth, I wanted it to sound mythological.  'Ariana' means 'Silver' in Welsh and is a derivitive of 'Ariadne' which means 'Most Holy.'  But, I don't really like the Ariadne in Greek Mythology.  Basically, she was duped by a hot guy into helping him out of the labrynth and then he dumped her for another chick.  'Ariana' is a beautiful name though and I love the Welsh meaning.  'Ariel,' on the other hand, means 'Lioness of God.'  The Heroine starts out rather depressed, having resigned from the Defensive Fleet after her fiance was killed.  When she falls in love with the Hero, it restores her faith in herself.

The Hero's name is Kian.

If you need a little inspiration, here's James Darren singing 'It's Only a Paper Moon'   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep_6BVz0Gnk&feature=fvw

P.S. Like the picture?  I cropped it from 'Flora and Zephyr' by William Bouguereau.  Even though 'Paper Moon' is inspired by the Pygmalion myth, I couldn't find any paintings I really liked.

I'm going with Ariel. I like the meaning better and it sounds better with Kian too.

Kian and Ariel.
