Tribbles and Other Terrific Pets

Captain Kirk and the Tribbles from the original STAR TREK.
.
Girls, if you're still looking for mates, one effective way to pick a winner is to observe how he treats small, furry animals, especially cats. Many men hate cats, because, by nature, they like to be in control. Cats cannot be controlled. Yet, cats are much smaller and mostly defenseless against a grown man. Just like children. Of course, it's ideal if you can observe a man around children. That was essential back when I was looking for a husband. But, small, furry animals will do, especially cats. My husband doesn't like cats either, but I successfully observed him being kind and careful with them anyway BEFORE I let myself fall in love with him. And he's proven to be a great dad, even when our children are going nuts.
.
It's scientifically proven that pets improve our health, provided we keep them clean and healthy too, of course.
.
I was almost adopted by a cat this past week. Alas, she found her real family and I'm happy for her. I figure it's inevitable I will get a cat, since I'm a writer. All the writers I know have them.
.
I also love dogs. I've always wanted a Golden Retriever named Sadie. I'd also like to have a Beagle. Don't like them jumping on furniture or people, but they can be taught not to do those things.
.
And hamsters. Want a hamster. What will I name my hamster? Tribble, of course.
.
Did I mention we're getting a new snake? Okay, so snakes aren't small, furry animals. They're still really cool to watch. This will make two snakes for us.
.
Hey, Tarantulas are small and furry! Chief O'Brian had a pet spider named 'Christine.'
.
Pets are good for humans. Pat your pets today and be healthy.

Yup, pets keep me sane! And make me laugh when I'm down.

*moves away from Kimber* sn*kes are not my friend. At all! They scare me. I would think in Alaska it would be too cold for snake (a girl can dream)

My aunt and uncle had a Golden Retriever named Sadie when I was growing up! She was really sweet. :)

And I agree - I have photo evidence of my hubby cuddling a cat before we got married. And he isn't what I'd call a cat person, but one adopted us, too. And he's been fabulous with our three small humans.

If life worked out as it should, I'd have several big dogs right now, including a Standard Poodle named Zelda, a Boxer named Hepburn, and a white German Shephard named Dietrich. At least I have the three humans. :)

There are no wild snakes in Alaska. Too cold. I did see an escaped pet garter snake sunning itself one summer a decade and a half ago.
